Oh, Savannah, Georgia. How I love you. Except during summer, when the skies open up each afternoon for your daily deluge. While this leads to the beautiful green vegetation that I know and love, it makes for a challenging wedding day, to say the least! (At least I am gaining allllllll the experience shooting in difficult weather conditions!) Thankfully, we had plenty to celebrate nonetheless during this stormy Savannah wedding at Old Fort Jackson.
Despite the rain, Olivia and Logan’s sweet wedding was so uniquely personal, which I absolutely LOVED.
You see, Logan is a history buff who goes beyond his simple adoration for the subject. Rather, he LIVES it everyday! He is a beloved historic interpreter at Old Fort Jackson and Wormsloe Plantation. He knows the fort inside and out, and finds immense comfort and joy in its intricacies and stories.
Upon completing their vows, a cannon was ceremoniously fired in celebration, which was super flippin’ cool, if I’m being honest. (Pro tip: when they tell you to plug your ears, do it. Not a mistake you’ll make twice.)
Olivia, on the other hand, is the English buff. She studied English during her undergrad, and just completed her master’s degree in education! She is sweet, sassy, intelligent, tender-hearted, and devoted in every way.
Olivia works as a special educator at a local school in Savannah, where she serves some of the students who often act quite unlovably. That’s what is remarkable about Olivia–she strives to see the good in everyone she meets and loves them as they are. I know I could personally use some lessons from her in that regard. She effectively makes me want to be a better person!
Isn’t she stunning?
^I love a bride who isn’t afraid of showing some sass. Girl, yes.
Olivia and Logan opted for a first look, and you better believe we took further advantage of Old Fort Jackson’s gorgeous gates! Check it out:
It was certainly a festive occasion, with so many smiles and joy abounding.
However, there was one somber note. Olivia’s mom past away a few years ago, which impacted Olivia’s life significantly, as you can surely imagine. There is little doubt, though, that she was present. Her ring now resides on Olivia’s finger, and her picture was a treasured part of the day’s setup.
Olivia’s mom would have undoubtedly been so proud. Her beautiful daughter honors her and celebrates her in everything she does.
Rain or no rain, the reception was one to remember. I’ve never seen such a laid back reception, and the word that comes to mind to describe it is contentment. The couple, the family, and the guests enjoyed one another’s company without expectation, and the ease of it all resulted in easy, restful grins on the face of everyone.
Olivia and Logan, may the Lord bless you and keep you. Even in the most difficult of times, I pray that you two would lean on each other and as one, lean on the Lord. May your times of laughter be sweet, and your times of grief be meaningful yet short. Thank you for letting me document your day, and I desire for you the very best.
Love,
Jenn
