This wedding at Jolo Winery and Vineyards in Pilot Mountain, NC was intimate and filled with family. Koy and Melissa decided to hold this wedding at a location that meant a great deal to them and were honored to be joined by those close to them.
Beautiful Introductions
Koy met Melissa while they both worked at the same company. Ironically, Melissa worked in Human Resources, so Koy was anxious about approaching her. He passed by Melissa daily to go get coffee and make small talk, and eventually he worked up the courage. But, when he did take the risk, she agreed to a date with him. This date was to Jolo Winery and little did they know that their wedding would take place at the very same place a short time later!
Melissa, proud of her ring, makes the joke that the one that Koy picked out resembles the shape of Pilot Mountain. Its elegance speaks volumes of his love!
Small But Intimate
While planning the wedding, they had to postpone for the pandemic, but they took it in stride. Much like Koy’s persistence even before their first date, they did not even let a worldwide problem stop their love.
The wedding itself was small, but intimate and filled with family. Koy’s two children, Kate and Klayton, were the maid of honor and the best man. It was beautiful to see them together and a family, and the wedding reflected that. The ceremony acknowledged that it wasn’t just Koy and Melissa becoming a family, but Kate and Klayton as well. And their families were joining through this beautiful wedding. Everyone present was family, and they were part of this celebration as well.
The Itinerary for their Jolo Winery Wedding
Melissa getting ready was sentimental and joyous. She was surrounded by her mom and all her best friends. Here, several gorgeous details added something special to the day. An heirloom watch helped celebrate loved ones who weren’t there with them.
Melissa and Koy decided to share a first look. It was a timeless moment, leaving Koy breathless as he got a chance to see his beautiful bride for the first time! They spent the moment looking at and admiring each other and basking in the beauty of the day.
Melissa walked down the aisle beside her father during the ceremony, and the officiant was Melissa’s sister, so the moment was able to come from a place of love and a deep knowing. Koy and Melissa shared beautiful handwritten notes, and it left everyone in tears.
Directly after the ceremony we captured the family portraits and you could see the closeness as these two families bonded together. And shortly thereafter, Koy and Melissa, now officially husband and wife, were able to wander the vineyards of Jolo Winery, and take wedding portraits of the two of them. Being here was beautiful in its simplicity, and Pilot Mountain completed the backdrop of these images.
During the reception, Koy and Melissa had a treat for everyone. They had previously taken dance lessons, and the first dance was an amazing and touching moment between the two of them. When it was time for speeches, Koy’s children, Kate and Klayton gave individual speeches. It was beautiful seeing the love come from the kids, and their words made everyone present cry!
This beautiful and memorable day closed with the sun going down. There was no special ending, but rather it felt like a gathering of family members who left one another beaming with joy and contentment, and it suited this couple just fine. Because it was so intimate and close, Koy and Kaitlyn were able to truly spend time with everyone in attendance.
Koy and Kaitlyn, from the bottom of my heart: may your marriage be more beautiful than your wedding!
