Paige and Erin’s Romantic Sunset Engagement Session | Raleigh, NC

I am SO excited to share with you Paige and Erin’s romantic sunset engagement session in Raleigh, NC. Not only are the images gorgeous and some of my best work, but this couple is radiant from the inside out. I’m so blessed to be capturing their wedding and engagement!

Erin and Paige’s Engagement Story

Paige and Erin met while attending North Carolina State University’s school of architecture. Their cohort was small, so they got to know each other quite well. They instantly developed a strong connection and actually avoided dating for quite a while to avoid damaging their valuable friendship. They couldn’t fight the inevitable for long!

During their engagement session, they showed me around the building and campus where they first met, sharing the sweet story of their relationship. Then, they took me to the parking lot where they first discussed starting to date. It really struck me how intentional that decision was, and how they took a moment together to recognize what they had to lose, but also what a wonderful future they could gain! While a parking lot is not the most photogenic place for engagement portraits, I love a good love story! I’ll choose sentimental over picture perfect every day!

Engagement Portraits at North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh

The second portion of our session took place at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. This was also a nod to their time together in school, as the museum hosting many of the school of architecture’s specialty projects.

I hadn’t met Erin and Paige until their engagement session, which is typical for new clients. Although we talk several times before the engagement session, there is usually still a “warming up” period when we first meet. As we strolled around Raleigh for their engagement session, I found myself completely relaxed and enjoying our time together as if I had known them forever. The weather was incredible, and these two were so sweet and thoughtful! For a moment, I forgot about the stress of the pandemic and just enjoyed their company. I truly enjoyed the day!

During our conversations, I learned that Erin had toured and considered my own alma matter, University of Cincinnati. We talked about his decision to move from New York City to the south for school. I have to say, for a New Yorker, he fits in perfectly in the south! When I mentioned to him that he doesn’t fit the NYC stereotype at all, he said “Why do you think I had to leave?!” Ha!

I can’t wait to see them tie the knot at The Oaks at Salem this October. It is the perfect setting to celebrate their sweet story. I’m just so happy they chose me to capture it for them! I hope you enjoy this selection of my favorite images from their engagement session.
