When Ben and Marie told me that they wanted their wedding at Medaloni Cellars, I was excited, because the events there are absolutely beautiful! The hardwood building and furniture combined with the outdoor and open-air location gives the entire venue a feel of being rustic yet polished at the same time. This would be the perfect place for Ben and Marie.
What I love most about post pandemic times, is that people are so much more willing to forgo tradition and make their wedding into whatever they want. Every wedding is so different now! Marie and Ben are no exception to this, and they did not hesitate to design a wedding that suited them.
They not only had to postpone their wedding in 2020 due to the pandemic, but they had to relocate it. They both live in Chicago – where they’ve been together for years and years. But, they both came down here to North Carolina to be closer to their family for the wedding.
One of the things that made this wedding so unique was that they completely threw off tradition when they got ready. Ben and Marie stayed together while they were getting ready, and it fit them so well. They’ve been together for a long time, and were comfortable being around each other, so the fact that they were helping each other get ready and with each other just felt natural between them. And it shows in the pictures!
There was one special tradition they kept: they added was a silver sixpence placed in the bottom of Marie‘s shoe for good luck!

They came to Medaloni Cellars by way of trolley and it was one of the more spectacular events of the evening! The trolleys were available to all the guests as well. So everyone got to enjoy the ride.

The ceremony took place on the stage and every guest was sitting in what looked like hand-carved wooden chairs! It was gorgeous and completely matched the summer color palette they had chosen of neutrals with bright colorful accents!
I also love that the kids were included, and Marie and Ben had flower girls and ring bearers to help them with the ceremony. Marie’s best friend married them which made this even more special. She’s known Marie since before she even met Ben, so when Ben came into her life, she was able to watch them fall in love and grow closer together.

Up until this point, I had been taking mostly candid photos of this couple, which completely fit their laid back and relaxed style. But after the ceremony I was able to steal them away for a few quick wedding portraits in the vineyard and the fields around us. Taking these shots was so easy, and they were so sweet and laid back about everything. I absolutely loved working with them!

Getting to do a wedding with Medaloni Cellars events was so nice! And I always love getting to work with the planner, Events by Summer Joy. I know when Summer and her team recommend me to a couple, it’s going to be a fantastic wedding. And it certainly was!
