Long before I became a wedding photographer, I got to know Luke and the Cobb family very well. I went to church with them in Georgia, and their family has been very special to me and my family! So, it was so sweet when Luke’s mom, Amy, reached out to me about photographing Luke’s wedding. And, even though it was quite the distance from where I work now, I just couldn’t say no!
Luke’s family is just the best! They’re a huge family and are some of the most faithful, kind and genuine people you could ever meet. And they’re actually connected to my own family! My husband’s college best friend married Luke’s little sister, Arianna. So, this was going to be a wedding that I knew I would just pour all of my heart into!
Brynn’s family owns a pecan farm, and I got the chance to meet them there. That was where Brynn and Luke had their engagement session. It was such a treat! She, like Luke and his whole family, is as kind and thoughtful as they come. And, her family’s pecan farm was an absolutely stunning place for the engagement photos!
But, their wedding would be at Oak Hill – the Cobb family farm in Lyons, Georgia. It has been in their family for years and has gone through tons of renovations over that time. Best of all, it’s still a working farm! It was such a joy to be there! Oak Hill is a beautiful place, and I know you’ll agree.
The day of the wedding was just incredible! It was a little bit overcast and threatening to rain the entire time, but we got so lucky in the fact that it never actually rained but for a tiny bit during the dancing portion of the reception. The couple opted to do a first look on a trail at the farm. Luke’s reaction was so precious! I just love the way Luke looks at Brynn. You can tell that he respects and treasures her in every way possible and it was visible on his face as he saw his bride for the first time. It was an amazing experience to witness.
After the first look, we had some time to do portraits with the bridal party and they came out so beautifully, but it was nothing compared to the sweetest first look Brynn shared with her father!
Faith is super important for this family. So, before Luke and Brynn were to walk down the aisle, the bridesmaids and groomsmen saw fit to pray before the ceremony and ask for blessings upon their marriage. Then, the ceremony took place on their property, overlooking a small lake that the Cobbs have on the farm. Look at Luke’s heartfelt reaction when his bride walked down the aisle!
After the ceremony, they opted to do a branding as a way to show their unity. Before the wedding, Luke and Brynn had a custom design made for the two of them. And after, they branded a piece of wood as the way to represent their love.
Next, it was time for the reception! Their reception took place where they were married, with twinkle lights above everyone. This was the first time I’ve ever had an opportunity to shoot an open sky reception as a wedding photographer. The cakes were as delicious as they looked, and the first dance was so intimate and personal. The toasts were next, and since Luke’s brother is a pastor, the time included prayers and blessings for the newly married couple!
Then the dance floor opened up. All ages of the family celebrated with dancing and I absolutely loved this! There’s a really precious photo of granddaughters dancing in the foreground, with Cobbs dancing in the background. It was this beautiful representation of this family across generations and the love that they all have for each other.
Throughout the reception, I specifically noticed Luke’s mom, Amy, was exuberant and absolutely brimming with joy. One thing that’s just so special for this family is that this season has been filled with all sorts of incredible life events; from births, new kids on the way, graduations, and now one spectacular wedding! This wedding was for everybody there and you could just feel a special connection between them all.
Before their exit, Luke and Brynn did a last dance with just the two of them on the dance floor, and it was awesome to get a front row seat to see how Brynn and Luke cherish one another.
Since the sparkler exit was up next, I was getting set up and needed to give them a few instructions. When I went inside to find them, I found Brynn and Luke surrounded by their families praying for them before they departed on the start of the journey of marriage. It was heartwarming, and so wonderful to see this family loving each other like this.
Despite the signs of weather, miraculously, the rain never came and I was able to photograph Luke and Brynn for their wedding without any problems! As a North Carolina wedding photographer, I don’t often travel down to Georgia but for this family I was willing to do just that. I was so honored that I got to be their wedding photographer!
Luke and Brynn, may your marriage be even more beautiful than your wedding!
